Chapter: If two invitations come at the same time, which should be given precedence?

باب إِذَا اجْتَمَعَ دَاعِيَانِ أَيُّهُمَا أَحَقُّ

English narration

Narrated by اسم مبهم

Narrated Abdur Rahman al-Himyari: A companion of the Prophet ﷺ reported him as saying: When two people come together to issue an invitation, accept that of the one whose door is nearer in neighbourhood, but if one of them comes before the other accept the invitation of the one who comes first.

النص العربي

حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ السَّلَامِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي خَالِدٍ الدَّالَانِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ الْأَوْدِيِّ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحِمْيَرِيِّ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : "

إِذَا اجْتَمَعَ الدَّاعِيَانِ ، فَأَجِبْ أَقْرَبَهُمَا بَابًا ، فَإِنَّ أَقْرَبَهُمَا بَابًا أَقْرَبَهُمَا جِوَارًا ، وَإِنْ سَبَقَ أَحَدُهُمَا فَأَجِبْ الَّذِي سَبَقَ
