The tradition mentioned about has also been transmitted by Aishah through a different chain of narrators. This version has: He (the Prophet) exiled him and he lived in a desert (outside Madina). He would come every Friday asking for food.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ زَادَ وَأَخْرَجَهُ ، فَكَانَ بِالْبَيْدَاءِ يَدْخُلُ كُلَّ جُمْعَةٍ يَسْتَطْعِمُ .
