Abu Dawud · 1479الدُّعَاءُ هُوَ الْعِبَادَةُ ، وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ سورة غافر آية 60Narrated An-Numan ibn Bashir: The Prophet ﷺ said: Supplication (du'a') is itself the worship. He did not mention the greatness of Allah, nor did he invoke blessings on the Prophet ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: He 6 narratorsAbu Dawud · 1482كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْتَحِبُّ الْجَوَامِعَ مِنَ الدُّعَاءِ وَيَدَعُ مَا سِوَى ذَلِكَAishah said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ liked comprehensive supplication and abandoned other kinds.5 narratorsAbu Dawud · 1483لَا يَقُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ : اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي إِنْ شِئْتَ ، اللَّهُمَّ ارْحَمْنِي إِنْ شِئْتَ لِيَعْزِمْ الْمَسْأَلَةَ ، فَإِنَّهُ لَا مُكْرِهَ لَهُAbu Hurairah reported the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: "One of you should not say (in his supplication): O Allah, forgive me if You please, show mercy to me if You please. ' Rather, be firm in your asking, for no one 5 narratorsAbu Dawud · 1484يُسْتَجَابُ لِأَحَدِكُمْ مَا لَمْ يَعْجَلْ ، فَيَقُولُ : قَدْ دَعَوْتُ فَلَمْ يُسْتَجَبْ لِيAbu Hurairah reported the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: "One of you is granted an answer (to his supplication) provided he does not say: 'I prayed but I was not granted an answer. '"5 narratorsAbu Dawud · 1485لَا تَسْتُرُوا الْجُدُرَ ، مَنْ نَظَرَ فِي كِتَابِ أَخِيهِ بِغَيْرِ إِذْنِهِ فَإِنَّمَا يَنْظُرُ فِي النَّارِ ، سَلُوا اللَّهَ بِبُطُونِ أَكُفِّكُمْ وَلَا تَسْأَلُوهُ بِظُهُورِهَا ، فَإِذَا فَرَغْتُمْ فَامْسَحُوا بِهَا وNarrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: The Prophet ﷺ said: Do not cover the walls. He who sees the letter of his brother without his permission, sees Hell-fire. She began to curse the person who had stolen it. The Prophet ﷺ began to tell her: Do not lighten him. He (Umar) said: He told me a word that pleas6 narratorsAbu Dawud · 1499حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ ، قَالَ : مَرَّ عَلَيَّ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمNarrated Saad ibn Abu Waqqas: The Prophet ﷺ passed by me while I was supplicating by pointing with two fingers of mine.
