Abu Dawud · 689إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَجْعَلْ تِلْقَاءَ وَجْهِهِ شَيْئًا ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ فَلْيَنْصِبْ عَصًا ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ عَصًا فَلْيَخْطُطْ خَطًّا ثُمَّ لَا يَضُرُّهُ مَا مَرَّ أَمَامَهُNarrated Abu Hurairah: The Prophet ﷺ said: When one of you prays, he should put something in front of his face, and if he can find nothing, he should set up his staff; but if he has no staff, he should draw a line; then 6 narrators Abu Dawud · 690حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ فَارِسٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيٌّ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمَدِينِيِّ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ ،عَنْ أَبِي مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ ، عَنْ جَدِّهThis tradition has also been reported by Abu Hurairah through a different chain of narrators. Sufyan said: We 7 narrators Abu Dawud · 691رَأَيْتُ شَرِيكًا صَلَّى بِنَا فِي جَنَازَةٍ الْعَصْرَ ، فَوَضَعَ قَلَنْسُوَتَهُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِSufyan bin Uyainah said: I saw Sharik who led us in the Asr prayer during a funeral ceremony.
