كِتَاب الْجِهَادِ وَالسِّيَرِ

Chapter 103

(103) Chapter. Concealing the true destination of a Ghazwa by using an equivocation which indicates apparently that one is going to a different destination; and the preference of Thursday for journeys (by the Prophet (p.b.u.h)).

103- بَابُ مَنْ أَرَادَ غَزْوَةً فَوَرَّى بِغَيْرِهَا، وَمَنْ أَحَبَّ الْخُرُوجَ يَوْمَ الْخَمِيسِ:

English narration

Narrated by كعب بن مالك الأنصاري

The Prophet (ﷺ) set out on Thursday for the Ghazwa of Tabuk and he used to prefer to set out (i.e. travel) on Thursdays.

حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ "

خَرَجَ يَوْمَ الْخَمِيسِ فِي غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ ، وَكَانَ يُحِبُّ أَنْ يَخْرُجَ يَوْمَ الْخَمِيسِ

" .
