Book 75: The Book of Patients

Chapter 1

(1) Chapter. The saying that sickness is expiation for sins.

1- بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي كَفَّارَةِ الْمَرَضِ:

English narration

Narrated by أبو هريرة الدوسي

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were the prick he receives from a thorn, but that Allah expiates some of his sins for that."

النص العربي

حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ حَلْحَلَةَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : "

مَا يُصِيبُ الْمُسْلِمَ مِنْ نَصَبٍ ، وَلَا وَصَبٍ ، وَلَا هَمٍّ ، وَلَا حُزْنٍ ، وَلَا أَذًى ، وَلَا غَمٍّ ، حَتَّى الشَّوْكَةِ يُشَاكُهَا ، إِلَّا كَفَّرَ اللَّهُ بِهَا مِنْ خَطَايَاهُ

" .
