How the Divine Revelation used to be revealed and what was the first thing revealed (to the Messenger ).22- بَابُ نَزَلَ الْقُرْآنُ بِلِسَانِ قُرَيْشٍ وَالْعَرَبِ:(2) Chapter. The Quran was revealed in the language of Quraish and the Arabs. "...An Arabic Quran..." (V.12:2) "In the plain Arabic language." (V.26:195)33- بَابُ جَمْعِ الْقُرْآنِ:(3) Chapter. Jibril (Gabriel) used to present (recite) the Quran to the Prophet.88- بَابُ الْقُرَّاءِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:(8) Chapter. (What is said regarding) the Qurra (the reciters of the Quran by heart) from among the Companions of the Prophet.99- بَابُ فَضْلِ فَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ:(9) Chapter. The superiority of Fatiha-til-Kitab (The Opening Surah of the Book).1010- بَابُ فَضْلُ الْبَقَرَةِ:(10) Chapter. The superiority of Al-Muawwidhat (Surat Al-Falaq and Surat An-Nas) [No.113 & 114].1516- بَابُ مَنْ قَالَ لَمْ يَتْرُكِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلاَّ مَا بَيْنَ الدَّفَّتَيْنِ:(16) Chapter. Whoever said that the Prophet did not leave anything after his death, except what is between the two binders (of the Quran).1617- بَابُ فَضْلِ الْقُرْآنِ عَلَى سَائِرِ الْكَلاَمِ:(17) Chapter. The superiority of the Quran above other kinds of speech.1718- بَابُ الْوَصَاةِ بِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ:(18) Chapter. To recommend the Book of Allah (the Quran).1819- بَابُ مَنْ لَمْ يَتَغَنَّ بِالْقُرْآنِ:(19) Chapter. Whoever does not recite the Quran in a pleasant tone.1920- بَابُ اغْتِبَاطِ صَاحِبِ الْقُرْآنِ:(20) Chapter. Wish to be the like of the one who recites the Quran.2021- بَابُ خَيْرُكُمْ مَنْ تَعَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ وَعَلَّمَهُ:(21) Chapter. The best among you (Muslims) are those who learn the Quran and teach it (to others).2122- بَابُ الْقِرَاءَةِ عَنْ ظَهْرِ الْقَلْبِ:(22) Chapter. The recitation of the Quran by heart.2223- بَابُ اسْتِذْكَارِ الْقُرْآنِ وَتَعَاهُدِهِ:(23) Chapter. The learning of the Quran by heart and the reciting of it repeatedly.2324- بَابُ الْقِرَاءَةِ عَلَى الدَّابَّةِ:(24) Chapter. The recitation of the Quran on an animal.2425- بَابُ تَعْلِيمِ الصِّبْيَانِ الْقُرْآنَ:(25) Chapter. Teaching the Quran to the children.2526- بَابُ نِسْيَانِ الْقُرْآنِ وَهَلْ يَقُولُ نَسِيتُ آيَةَ كَذَا وَكَذَا:(26) Chapter. Forgetting the Quran. And can one say: “I forgot such and such a Verse?”2627- بَابُ مَنْ لَمْ يَرَ بَأْسًا أَنْ يَقُولَ سُورَةُ الْبَقَرَةِ وَسُورَةُ كَذَا وَكَذَا:(27) Chapter. Whoever thinks that there is no harm in saying: Surat Al-Baqarah (The Cow) or Surat so-and-so.2728- بَابُ التَّرْتِيلِ فِي الْقِرَاءَةِ:(28) Chapter. The recitation of Quran in Tartil (clearly and in slow style).2829- بَابُ مَدِّ الْقِرَاءَةِ:(29) Chapter. Prolonging certain sounds while reciting the Quran.2930- بَابُ التَّرْجِيعِ:(30) Chapter. At-Tajri (to recite the Quran in a sort of attraction viberating tone).3031- بَابُ حُسْنِ الصَّوْتِ بِالْقِرَاءَةِ:(31) Chapter. To recite the Quran in a charming voice.3132- بَابُ مَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يَسْمَعَ الْقُرْآنَ مِنْ غَيْرِهِ:(32) Chapter. Whoever likes to hear the Quran from another person.3233- بَابُ قَوْلِ الْمُقْرِئِ لِلْقَارِئِ حَسْبُكَ:(33) Chapter. The saying of the listener (to the recitation of the Quran) to the reciter: “Enough!”3334- بَابٌ في كَمْ يُقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنُ:(34) Chapter. What is the proper period for reciting the whole Quran.3435- بَابُ الْبُكَاءِ عِنْدَ قِرَاءَةِ الْقُرْآنِ:(35) Chapter. To weep while reciting the Quran.3536- بَابُ مَنْ رَايَا بِقِرَاءَةِ الْقُرْآنِ أَوْ تَأَكَّلَ بِهِ أَوْ فَخَرَ بِهِ:(36) Chapter. The sin of the person who recites the Quran to show off or to gain some worldly benefit, or to feel proud etc.3637- بَابُ اقْرَءُوا الْقُرْآنَ مَا ائْتَلَفَتْ قُلُوبُكُمْ:(37) Chapter. Recite (and study) the Quran together as long as you agree about its interpretation.

Bukhari · 4978لَبِثَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَكَّةَ عَشْرَ سِنِينَ يُنْزَلُ عَلَيْهِ الْقُرْآنُ ، وَبِالْمَدِينَةِ عَشْرَ سِنِينَThe Prophet (ﷺ) remained in Mecca for ten years, during which the Qur'an used to be revealed to him; and he stayed in Medina for ten years.6 narratorsBukhari · 4979لَبِثَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَكَّةَ عَشْرَ سِنِينَ يُنْزَلُ عَلَيْهِ الْقُرْآنُ ، وَبِالْمَدِينَةِ عَشْرَ سِنِينَThe Prophet (ﷺ) remained in Mecca for ten years, during which the Qur'an used to be revealed to him; and he stayed in Medina for ten years.6 narratorsBukhari · 4980أُنْبِئْتُ أَنَّ جِبْرِيلَ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعِنْدَهُ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ فَجَعَلَ يَتَحَدَّثُ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِأُمِّ سَلَمَةَ : مَنْ هَذَا ؟ أَوْ كَمI was informed that Gabriel came to the Prophet (ﷺ) while Um Salama was with him. Gabriel started talking (to the Prophet). Then the Prophet (ﷺ) asked Um Salama, "Who is this?" She replied, "He is Dihya (al-Kalbi)." When5 narratorsBukhari · 4981مَا مِنَ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ نَبِيٌّ إِلَّا أُعْطِيَ مَا مِثْلهُ آمَنَ عَلَيْهِ الْبَشَرُ ، وَإِنَّمَا كَانَ الَّذِي أُوتِيتُ وَحْيًا أَوْحَاهُ اللَّهُ إِلَيَّ فَأَرْجُو أَنْ أَكُونَ أَكْثَرَهُمْ تَابِعًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِThe Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Every Prophet was given miracles because of which people believed, but what I have been given, is Divine Inspiration which Allah has revealed to me. So I hope that my followers will outnumber the f5 narratorsBukhari · 4982أَنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى تَابَعَ عَلَى رَسُولِهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْوَحْيَ قَبْلَ وَفَاتِهِ حَتَّى تَوَفَّاهُ أَكْثَرَ مَا كَانَ الْوَحْيُ ، ثُمَّ تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّAllah sent down His Divine Inspiration to His Apostle continuously and abundantly during the period preceding his death till He took him unto Him. That was the period of the greatest part of revelation; and Allah's Messe6 narratorsBukhari · 4983اشْتَكَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلَمْ يَقُمْ لَيْلَةً أَوْ لَيْلَتَيْنِ ، فَأَتَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ ، فَقَالَتْ : يَا مُحَمَّدُ ، مَا أُرَى شَيْطَانَكَ إِلَّا قَدْ تَرَكَكَ ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَOnce the Prophet (ﷺ) fell ill and did not offer the night prayer (Tahajjud prayer) for a night or two. A woman (the wife of Abu Lahab) came to him and said, "O Muhammad ! I do not see but that your Satan has left you." T4 narratorsBukhari · 4984إِذَا اخْتَلَفْتُمْ أَنْتُمْ وزَيْدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ فِي عَرَبِيَّةٍ مِنْ عَرَبِيَّةِ الْقُرْآنِ ، فَاكْتُبُوهَا بِلِسَانِ قُرَيْشٍ ، فَإِنَّ الْقُرْآنَ أُنْزِلَ بِلِسَانِهِمْ فَفَعَلُوا(The Caliph `Uthman ordered Zaid bin Thabit, Sa`id bin Al-As, `Abdullah bin Az-Zubair and `Abdur- Rahman bin Al-Harith bin Hisham to write the Qur'an in the form of a book (Mushafs) and said to them. When the Prophet (ﷺ) was at Al-Ja'rana and was shaded by a garment hanging over him and some of his companions were9 narrators·parallel chainBukhari · 4986إِنَّ الْقَتْلَ قَدِ اسْتَحَرَّ يَوْمَ الْيَمَامَةِ بِقُرَّاءِ الْقُرْآنِ ، وَإِنِّي أَخْشَى أَنْ يَسْتَحِرَّ الْقَتْلُ بِالْقُرَّاءِ بِالْمَوَاطِنِ فَيَذْهَبَ كَثِيرٌ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ ، وَإِنِّي أَرَى أَنْ تَأْمُرَ بِجَمAbu Bakr As-Siddiq sent for me when the people! of Yamama had been killed (i.e., a number of the Prophet's Companions who fought against Musailama). (I went to him) and found `Umar bin Al- Khattab sitting with him. Abu B5 narratorsBukhari · 4987أَنَّ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنَ الْيَمَانِ قَدِمَ عَلَى عُثْمَانَ وَكَانَ يُغَازِي أَهْلَ الشَّأْمِ فِي فَتْحِ إِرْمِينِيَةَ وَأَذْرَبِيجَانَ مَعَ أَهْلِ الْعِرَاقِ ، فَأَفْزَعَ حُذَيْفَةَ اخْتِلَافُهُمْ فِي الْقِرَاءَةِ ، فَقَالَ'Among the Believers are men who have been true in their covenant with Allah.'
