Abu Dawud · 209حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ الْقَعْنَبِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ حَدِيثٍ حَدَّثَهُ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِلْمUrwah reported on the Authority of his father a tradition from Ali bin Abi Talib who said: I Asked al-Miqdad (to consult the prophet). He then narrated the tradition bearing the same meaning.
