Book 70: The Book of Foods (Meals)

كِتَاب الْأَطْعِمَةِ

Chapter 58

(58) Chapter. If super or dinner is served then one should not hurry to finish it [when the time for Salat (prayer) is due].

58- بَابُ إِذَا حَضَرَ الْعَشَاءُ فَلاَ يَعْجَلْ عَنْ عَشَائِهِ:

English narration

Narrated by عبد الله بن عمر العدوي

Once Ibn Umar was taking his supper while he was listening to the recitation of (Quran by) the Imam (in the Isha prayer).

النص العربي

حَدَّثَنَا مُعَلَّى بْنُ أَسَدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : "

إِذَا وُضِعَ الْعَشَاءُ وَأُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَابْدَءُوا بِالْعَشَاءِ

" . وَعَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْوَهُ .
