معنى الفهر في الحديث

Fihr (فهر): Meaning in Hadith

1 hadith in the six books

فِهْرٍ

fihr

Root: ف ه ر

A fihr is a stone about the size that fills the hand, of the kind used for pounding. In Samura ibn Jundub's narration of the Prophet's dream in Bukhari, a man stands over another holding a fihr or a rock (bi-fihrin aw sakhrah) and strikes his head with it. Fihr is also the name of an ancestor of Quraysh, which is why some companions are called al-Fihri.
