Munabadhah and Mulamasah (المنابذة والملامسة): Meaning in Hadith

4 hadith in the six books

الْمُنَابَذَةِ

munabadhah; mulamasah

Root: ن ب ذ

Munabadhah and mulamasah are two pre-Islamic sales that the Prophet forbade. In munabadhah the seller throws a garment to the buyer and the sale is binding without the buyer turning it over or looking at it; in mulamasah merely touching the garment, without inspecting it, concludes the sale. Bukhari's narration from Abu Sa'id includes these definitions.
